Psalm 119:127 says, “Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold!” It has been said that people live in their culture like a fish lives in water — neither are fully aware of their surroundings because it’s so natural. American culture is perhaps the most materialistic on earth. We inherently value things, stuff, bling, money, possessions. So is it possible to value God’s Word more than fine gold?! It is, but it’s hard. And it doesn’t come automatically. We need to deliberately set aside time to read/listen to it to hear from our Heaven Father. Spending time with him is the best investment we can ever make because it lasts forever.
