Psalm 119:89 says, “Forever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven.” This is one of the two things revealed in Scripture that last forever. The other is the souls of human beings. The word “settled” means stands strong; it endures. Both of these things are what we should focus on. Both are bound up and connected to God’s glory, which we should seek everyday. Everything else is temporary: all our material possessions, our problems, our successes. Outside of the eternal things, everything else is vanity, as we find in Ecclesiastes.
