Daniel 2:44 says, And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” Daniel is concluding his interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of 5 empires that ends with God establishing his “kingdom which shall never be destroyed.” It “shall not be left to other people” as the previous kingdoms were inherited by the next one. No, this one stands “forever.” His descriptions so accurately foretell the character of each kingdom that liberal theologians originally assigned a much later date for Daniel thinking he was looking back on history but called it prophecy. Not so. Since God perfectly knows the future, can’t we trust him during uncertain times? Let’s show our confidence in him to outsiders today.
