Devotional Observation – April 12, 2017

Daniel 1:20-21 says, And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm. Thus Daniel continued until the first year of King Cyrus.” Nebuchadnezzar personally inspected all of the eunuchs in Babylon University. While they all looked favorable, Daniel and his 3 young colleagues — most commentators put them in their teens when they were captured — looked “ten times better than” all the others in his whole realm that he relied on. The Bible rarely makes comparisons. Perhaps this is Nebuchadnezzar’s statement. The key word in the book of Hebrews is “better.” That’s a good description of how our walk with the Lord should be. Daniel’s was such that he served to the first year of King Cyrus, 67 years later. Let’s make sure we’re doing better today.
