Devotional Observation – April 11, 2017

Daniel 1:17, 19 says, As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams…. Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king.” Daniel and his fellow captives had graduated from Babylon University having been trained in the top worldly institution. They resisted this brainwashing process along with Nebuchadnezzar’s food. They showed Melzar, the eunuch’s overseer, they were healthier eating vegetables. So God gave them their respective skill sets to be effective royal counselors. This was a risky profession that could end in death if the king had a bad hair day or a bad dream night (2:3). God likewise gave us everything “for life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). Let’s live like it for outsiders to see today.
