Devotional Observation – March 3, 2017

John 19:41-42 says, Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.” Roman guards had marched Jesus to “Golgotha…the place of the skull.” (v. 17) a common execution place. where he died at 3PM. “Nearby” was Joseph’s new (unused) tomb, so he and Nicodemus wrapped the body “in strips of linen and spices” (v. 40) and laid him in it. Proximity was critical because all work must stop at 6PM on “Preparation Day” for Passover, which was the next day (Saturday). It all followed the script(ure), God predicting it in Isaiah 53:9.  Outsiders (Romans, Jews) and believers (Joseph, Nick) fulfilled God’s plan. God has a plan for us. Let’s align our script with his script today.
