Devotional Observation – November 19, 2016

John 14:12 says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father.” Hours before his betrayal, Jesus discussed important matters with the disciples “who believe in me.” They would do the same “works I do…and greater works” because Jesus would return to the Father. Returning to heaven meant sending the Spirit who would give them the power to do such works. They would be greater in number because more disciples did more works. Peter alone saw 3,000 come to faith at Pentecost. Jesus never had that many true followers while on earth. We are part of many generations of believers doing “greater works.” Let’s make sure we give outsiders clear opportunities to see the power and the fruit of the Spirit at work in us every day.
