Devotional Observation – November 18, 2016

John 14:10-11 says, “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does the works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me, or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.” Jesus continued instructing his disciples before his betrayal. He already said publicly at the feast in Jerusalem to “believe the works” to know “the Father is in me” (10:38). He now reminds them to point to the coming cross where the Father in him will pay for our sins through him. Our Savior wanted them prepared for tough times ahead. He wants the same for us. Are we listening closely to him? Let’s grow in grace to be better prepared for the future.
