John 13:6-7 says, “Then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, ‘Lord, are you washing my feet?’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.'” Jesus had interrupted the normal flow of the Last Passover meal by starting to wash his disciples’ feet. This totally shocked them, so much so that Peter, probably speaking for all of them, asked if he would really wash his feet. Jesus simply replied that Peter would understand later what he was doing. Many times in life circumstances don’t go as expected or desired. We have a choice to roll with it trusting God when we “do not understand now.” Eventually we too “will know after” it. Let’s make sure we’re trusting God each day so outsiders will see our walk and thus hear our talk.
