Devotional Observation – October 23, 2016

John 12:25-26 says, “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honor.” Jesus said this early in his passion week. If a person “loves his life he’ll lose it” but hating his life “in this world will keep it for eternal life.” So we can’t love our lives here, but we “hate” it in a comparative sense, keeping ourselves from thinking this is all there is. God wants to “honor” us in heaven! It takes eyes of faith to see what God sees. Only Jesus knew he had one week left. He marched to God’s heartbeat. May we march that way with faith today seeing what he sees.
