Devotional Observation – September 22, 2016

John 10:16 says, “And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” Toward the end of his good shepherd metaphor, Jesus reveals that he is shepherd of two kinds of sheep. “This fold” refers to Jews; “other sheep” refers to Gentiles. They were ones Jesus had, but not yet: “I must bring them.” He had them in his mind and heart but not yet a part of his body with Jewish sheep until after his resurrection. Jesus was intentional in everything he did, and God fulfilled every intention. One big goal was unity — 2 folds of sheep, one body, one shepherd. Are we similarly intentional? Are we working with him to make “one new man” (Eph.2:15)? May our intentions follow in his steps.
