Devotional Observation – July 18, 2016

John 4:22 says, “You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.” Jesus made this statement to the Samaritan woman at the well talking about where God should be worshiped. Jesus said Samaritans worshiped ignorantly but Jews did not. In fact, they knew God because he was gracious enough to reveal himself to them. Salvation is of the Jews because Jesus was Jewish. And from Jesus came Christians, and we likewise know whom we worship. Ignorance in anything is never good unless it’s about evil, sin, etc. The very fact that God reveals himself means he doesn’t want people ignorant. Thank God today he has revealed himself to you and works in your life. Being “in the know” pays eternal dividends!
