John 1:11 says of Jesus, “He came to his own and his own did not receive him.” Many teachers think this means, He came to his world or mankind and his own people did not receive him. His own people would be the Jews. It’s very sad that though the Jews had hundreds of prophecies in the Old Testament that speak of Jesus, they still rejected him. In many families, a member will become a Christian and in like manner they reject the Christian member much like Jesus. It’s interesting that the young mule that had never been ridden before, the one Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, seems to have had a better sense not to reject the Messiah like too many people do (although we obviously can’t prove that). Let’s let them see Jesus in us today.
