John 1:3 says, “All things were made through him [the Word/Christ], and without him nothing was made that was made.” This takes us back to 1:1 where we saw that God does things through the Word. It also agrees with Colossians 1:16 that concludes, “All things were created through him and for him.” This adds the purpose for all of creation: it is all for him including us. Originally human beings were made in his image for a reason: relationship. Sin marred that purpose and scarred that image. That is why humanity as a whole needs redemption. Their lives are a mess outside of him. All the more reason for us to grow in Christlikeness so we can be less of the problem and more of the solution.
