John 1:1-2 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” In these 2 verses it says twice that the Word, i.e., Jesus (verse 14), was “with God” while at the same time being God. Being God shows essence, nature, attributes and characteristics. With God shows distinction. While human words fail at explaining the plurality of the Godhead (trinity), they can adequately (for us) describe it. Doing this in these 2 verses demonstrates God is far above us and our understanding, meaning we do well to listen to and follow him at all times. He is our first, last and ultimate resource and help. Let’s rely on him today.
