Psalm 140:7 & 9 say, “O GOD of Israel, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle… As for the head of those who surround me, let the evil of their lips cover them.” In this psalm King David prays two different ways. First, he acknowledges that the LORD has protected him, specifically his head. We all know that if our heads our wounded, it affects the rest of our bodies. It’s no wonder that Jesus describes himself as our Head (Ephesians 4:15, Colossians 2:19). Secondly, David prays a curse on the head of his enemies, a fatal blow. In Old Testament times, Jews represented Yahweh and the (Gentile) nations false gods. That is why they prayed such prayers, to see the LORD lifted up and praised in victory. As our head, Jesus assures us, his body, victory every day. I pray you walk in that victory today.
