The first part of Psalm 139 that details God’s detailed knowledge of us is followed by God’s unyielding presence with us by his Spirit (v. 7). God is in heaven and Sheol (v. 8), in the farthest reaches of the sea (v. 9), and even the darkest places of the earth because it is like light to God (v. 11-12). God needs no night vision goggles! Nothing is hidden to him and there is no escaping him. We are never ever totally alone. This does several things. First, it should bring us comfort. Second, it reminds of his faithfulness. And third, it encourages us to do what is right because he sees everything. May we embrace him and his presence in all our waking hours.
