Devotional Observation – May 16, 2017

Psalm 119:176 says, “I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.” After all that this psalm’s writer acknowledges about his efforts to make God’s Word the most important thing in his life, he says here that he has gone astray, but he hasn’t forgotten God’s commandments. That only leaves us to conclude that his going astray was a willful choice. This is why he prays that God would seek him, find him and bring him back. Regardless of how far we’ve come with the Lord, we’re never done. We never “arrive.” We need our Shepherd Savior 24/7/365/lifetime. Rejoice that he is faithful when we are not and that his salvation is permanent!
