Daniel 2:22 says, “He reveals deep and secret things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.” Still thanking God in prayer for giving him the content and meaning of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel glorifies God because “he reveals deep and secret things; he knows what is in the darkness.” When people engage in criminal behavior they typically do so at night because darkness covers them. Crime statistics confirm this. While not a crime, Nebuchadnezzar’s dream happened in his mind/soul, at the time a very dark place impossible for anyone to see or know. Notice: God revealed his dream to Daniel “in a night vision” (v. 19)! This proves “the darkness and the light are both alike to you” (Psalm 139:12b). Also invisible is the future. For some their future is dark. For believers it should be “as bright as God’s promises” (William Carey). Let’s live brightly today.
