Psalm 119:37 says, “Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in your way.” Day in and day out we see all kinds of things, virtually every one of them temporary in nature. We can’t help it — the world we live in is fallen and temporal. So the writer asks for God’s help to turn him from seeing temporal things to looking at that which lasts forever: his word, which is the way we can be revived. How much do we need to be regularly reading his word!
