Devotional Observation – March 27, 2017

John 21:11-12 says, Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. Jesus said to them, ‘Come and eat breakfast.’ Yet none of the disciples dared ask him, ‘Who are you?’–knowing that it was the Lord.” In the boat John recognized Jesus on the shore after a large catch of fish left in the net in shallow water. They caught 153, enough to break a typical net. Jesus invites them to eat what he provided miraculously as well as some of what they caught at his command (v. 6), also his provision. This pictures the purpose and partnership the risen Jesus has with his people. Catch fish? No problem with Jesus. ‘Catch’ people for Jesus? Now that’s the real story! Let’s have our purpose in partnership with him today.
