Devotional Observation – November 11, 2016

John 13:30-32 says, “Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night. So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him immediately.'” At the Last Passover Jesus honored Judas by giving him the first “piece of bread.” Judas left to betray Jesus and “it was night,” the darkest night in history. As evil plans rapidly unfolded like never before, Jesus was “glorified” because this was how sins would be paid for and God’s honor restored. The Father was also “glorified” for the same reasons in Christ. The impact came “immediately.” God’s will frequently is worked out in the most unexpected ways. When things don’t go as we expect, let’s remember the cross and glorify our Savior.
