John 12:19 says, “ The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, ‘You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after him!'” Pharisees were the religious law-keeping ‘do-gooders.’ They said this as the Jews who saw Lazarus raised from the dead testified at Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. Lazarus’ resurrection fueled the excitement that stirred the whole city (Matthew 21:10). Isn’t it our dream to see that “the world has gone after [Jesus]”? But this did not happen literally then or now. People are prone to exaggeration. Still, that doesn’t mean God isn’t busy or that people aren’t getting saved. They are in record numbers, especially in the Muslim world. While times get tougher, this is the best time to be alive for the Kingdom, which will arrive right on schedule. Let’s make sure we’re living out Kingdom values so that those around us will “go after” Jesus.
