Psalm 111:9 says, “[The LORD] has sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever; holy and awesome is his name.” This verse finishes a section beginning in verse 2 about the works of the LORD. Redemption (our salvation) is the highlight, and because it is, we call his name holy and awesome. In all but one use of “awesome” in the NKJV, this word is only used to describe the LORD, his name and actions. It would seem that some words like this are reserved to describe only him.
