Devotional Observation – September 30, 2016

John 11:9-10 says, Jesus answered, ‘Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.'” Jesus headed toward Bethany with his disciples to raise Lazarus who had died. Some of them were concerned because the Jews tried to stone him at Bethany. He responded that the day has 12 hours of light. He describes himself as “the light of this world.” That means “this world” is dark. It gets increasingly so day by day. If Jesus is not in each one who walks “in the night, he stumbles,” meaning they die without him. By God’s grace we have this world’s light in us. Others are stumbling. Let’s make sure we shine brightly today, demonstrating his grace toward others.
