Devotional Observation – September 25, 2016

John 10:29-30 says,  “My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.” Talking about his sheep, Jesus previously said no one can “snatch them out of my hand” (10:28). Now we see ourselves in his Father’s hand too. I picture this as 2 hands (Jesus and the Father) cupped together securely holding and protecting us. The Father is “stronger than all,” including Jesus, because Jesus is limited in his body. No one — not thieves, robbers or wolves, anyone — can touch us! This is the strongest eternal security passage in the whole Bible. And it connects to the deity of Jesus: “I and my Father are one.” One in equality, nature, authority, purpose, everything. Memorize these verses if you haven’t. Doing so brings great assurance.
