Devotional Observation – September 13, 2016

John 9:29-30 says, “‘We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where he is from.’ The man answered and said to them, ‘Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where he is from; yet he has opened my eyes!'” In confronting the formerly-blind, now-seeing man, the Pharisees hang onto Moses as their preferred representative of God while belittling Jesus, saying they “don’t know where he is from.” The man is quick to respond that the obvious indicator after healing him was that Jesus was at least as good as Moses since both did miracles. In other words, this wasn’t rocket science. Critics and rejecters of Jesus typically deny the obvious to maintain their position. We’re not immune from that when God stretches our faith making it and us stronger. Let’s embrace all he has for us today, especially if it’s hard.
