John 9:2-3 says, “And his disciples asked him saying, ‘Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?’ Jesus answered, ‘Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'” The question of the disciples showed a prevailing mindset, that deformity or handicap comes from personal sin. Actually it is a result of Adam’s original sin in the garden. Jesus responded that it was so “the works of God should be revealed in him.” For this man it meant healing (vs.6-8). For others, like our dear friends Connie and Kevan, it means God working through their limitations instead of healing them, something we’ve all prayed for. God uses them in a special way precisely because of their handicap. When he does, he redeems their struggles. Today let’s remember to pray for such ones in whom God is working.
