John 7:6 and 8 says, “Then Jesus said to them, ‘My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready…You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come.'” Jesus was discussing with his brothers when to go to the Feast of Tabernacles (v. 2-3) in Jerusalem. Since they didn’t believe in him (v. 5), they were outsider still of the world (v. 7). They went by their own schedule: your time is always ready. They could up anytime…whenever. Not so with Jesus; he says “not yet” 3 times. He was on his Father’s timetable. Because of Jesus, believers are not of this world (17:14). So do we make our own plans and write our own schedules like outsiders, or do we consult with the Father like Jesus? Are we random or with him?
