Devotional Observation – August 6, 2016

John 6:8-9 says, “One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, ‘There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?'” John 6 begins describing the miracle of Jesus feeding 5,000 men. Women and children were there too, pushing the crowd size to ~15,000. Jesus asked the disciples where could they buy bread. No one had enough money for that. Andrew found a young boy with his lunch. It was totally inadequate for the need. But it was given to Jesus anyway. In his hands he multiplied it to be totally sufficient. Everything we have is inadequate for the tasks God gives us to do. Let’s give all that we have every day to Jesus who will make it sufficient for his purposes.
