Devotional Observation – July 24, 2016

John 4:36-37 says, “And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.'” Jesus said this still talking to his disciples in Samaria. Notice that evangelism is a team activity: one sows/plants seed (the gospel) and another reaps/harvests. This doesn’t exclude one-on-one opportunities, but it shows that members of his Body should have a broader or more global view where we will rejoice together in the Kingdom. So we might pray while others speak, or vice versa. We might share the gospel while another waters that seed, or vice versa. If every believer did this, outreach would be much more effective. Let’s be effective today.
