John 4:35 says, “Do not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” Jesus said this to his disciples while they were still in Samaria. He probably pointed to the sprouts and shoots of new plant life around him indicating 4 more months before reaping began. That’s the normal growth cycle for plants there. But humans aren’t ‘seasonal’ like that. People can be “white for harvest” almost anytime depending on where they are on their spiritual journeys. Our job as workers in God’s fields is helping outsiders become insiders and praying the Lord of the harvest (Matthew 9:38) to add to our ranks. How are the outsiders around you doing on their journeys?
