Psalm 139:17-18 says, “How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with you.” This is a tremendous fact about God: his omniscience, or perfectly complete knowledge. And it regards us! I often use this word picture for those in or from SoFla: “Go to the beach and wander down to the ocean’s edge. Feel the sand beneath your feet and between your toes. Now turn left and look north. Observe all that sand. Turn about face and do the same. All those grains of sand represent God’s thoughts to you! Now imagine the entire east cost. All that sand. Now imagine all the beaches in the world. All those thoughts of God to you.” In the Middle East, it would be all those desert sands doing the same. Every grain a God-thought to you! How can we ever thank him enough for his care for us?
