Psalm 122 contains the prayer for Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces…Peace be within you” (vs. 6-8). This was written by King David after he brought the ark of the covenant into the city. He prayed it would have peace and prosperity since Jerusalem, which means “teaching of peace,” was the only city in the world God linked to his name. Isn’t that an indication of what God wants — peace and prosperity with him for all those who love his city? Yet it seems that it has known little peace over much of time because the enemy wants to disrupt and ostracize it. All the more reason to continue to pray for it.
