Psalm 119:72 says, “The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.” That’s a lot of coins and money! In many places in the Bible we see the comparison and contrast of material wealth and God’s Word. What is it that makes something valuable? Silver and especially gold are valuable because their properties allow them to be spread so thin and last so long. They almost never break down. It is the same with God’s Word. It can be spread so wide and cover any topic. And how long does it last? Verse 160 says, “The entirety of your word is truth, and everyone of your righteous judgments endures forever.” May we value both the Lord and his Word more than anything else in this life. We’ll be far richer for it.
