John 17:23 says, “I in them, and you in me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them as you have loved me.” Jesus continued praying on his last night with the disciples. “I in them, and you in me” describes 2 relationships. The first is with the disciples. Being “in them” must indicate his Spirit since he’s still with them physically. The second relationship is with his Father who is in him. So the Father is in Jesus who is in the disciples. Jesus brings the whole package to us so that (1) the disciples would “be made perfect in one,” (2)“the world may know that” the Father sent him and (3) he “loved them as [he] loved [Jesus].” Let’s thrive in this incredible loving relational context so outsiders see it and know it.
