John 14:1-2 says, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” After Judas left the Last Passover, Jesus told his followers not to be “troubled” or disturbed. He had just predicted Peter’s betrayal. He reminded them of their faith “in God” and said they should similarly “believe in” him. If Jesus is not God in human form this is blasphemy. Trust him like God? Absolutely! Then he shares breaking news: he’ll return after preparing “a place for you.” This had never been known before and explains one reason why he left earth after his resurrection. He’s been preparing for us for nearly 2,000 years! Let’s not discount our perfect heavenly home (“mansion”) as a motive to serve him today. Keep looking up!
