John 5:22-23 says, “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.” Lots of things here in these two verses. First, Jesus says he, not the Father, would judge people. John records multiple times Jesus saying he didn’t come to judge the world but to save it (3:17, 12:47, etc.). But this is not a contradiction. His mission on earth was to save. But at the end of time he will be the ultimate and final judge (12:48, Revelation 20:11-15). So rejoice that Jesus already took the judgment for our sins on the cross. Our sins are never an issue with him again! Pray we can share this great news with others still facing judgment. [More from these verses next time.]
