John 2:25 says, “[Jesus] had no need that anyone should testify of man, for he knew what was in man.” This verse completes the idea John began in verse 23. In that verse he says many trusted in Christ because of his miracles. Verse 24 says Jesus didn’t trust himself to them because he knew what was in them. This probably means their faith in him was shaky at best. Then verse 25 says he didn’t require people to tell him about this or that person because he already knew them from the inside out. It is a statement of omniscience, proving that he is equal with the Father. Aren’t you glad is grace super abounds over the sin inside us (Romans 5:20)? Thank God today for that grace brought by the ever indwelling Holy Spirit!
