John 17:21-22 says, “[I pray] that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one.” As Judas approaches Gethsemane, Jesus’ prayer approaches heavenly realms. He desires not only the same unity and interconnectedness for us with each other as Father has with Son, he also wants that for us and the whole Godhead! To that end Jesus says he gave the Father’s “glory” to the disciples. This can only refer to the Holy Spirit, the “Spirit of glory” (1 Peter 4:14). All this so “the world may believe that you sent” Jesus. More outsiders wanted! Let’s glorify him today by helping fulfill his prayer for the world.
