Psalm 144:3-4 say “Lord, what is man, that you take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that you are mindful of him? Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.” All of us are keenly aware of how fast time goes by, especially at a time like the arrival of a new year. How does the time fly by so fast? It’s just like a shadow that’s wiped out by the next passing cloud. In contrast the eternal God has knowledge and is mindful of us, words that mean attending, knowing, esteeming and accounting for us. Since he lives forever and does that for us, shouldn’t we who are temporary do the same of him? I’m sure it would make for a far better new year.
