Psalm 139 has long been a favorite of many Christians over the centuries. As a follower of God King David begins it by noting God’s intimacy with us by searching and knowing us individually (v. 1). He knows our sitting down, rising up, thoughts (v. 2), paths lying down and ways (v. 3), and words (v. 4). God gives us his care and protection (v. 5). The extent of what God knows about us is beyond comprehension (v. 6). Being fallen creatures, what does this say about our God that he knows and cares for us? The answer would fill volumes and exhaust language. His knowledge of us doesn’t drive him away. Always be grateful for the compassion and mercy God shows us every day.
