John 15:22 and 24 says, “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin…. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both me and my Father.” Jesus continued teaching his disciples at Gethsemane about Jewish haters. He told them that his opponents would not be as guilty if he had not “spoken” God’s words and done all “the works” (i.e., miracles, 5:36, 11:47), not that they literally “would have no sin.” God was kind and gracious to send Jesus to be God’s witness, demonstrate God’s power and so give them a chance. There was “no excuse” for their pride turning into hatred. Jesus was the absolute replica of the Father. How much are we godly replicas in reaching outsiders?
