John 11:51-52 says, “Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for that nation only, but also that he would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.” The “he” here who spoke is the high priest Caiaphas who prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish people. And while he prophesied, God gave him further words that went farther than Caiaphas would ever dream. God foretold that Jesus “would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.” The “children of God” would primarily include Jews and secondarily Gentiles who trust Christ too. This demonstrates God’s sovereignty in using opponents like Caiaphas and winning over the nations. His kingdom is on track and on time! Praise him for all that he’s doing!
