Daniel 2:48-49 says, “Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts; and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon. Also Daniel petitioned the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.” After Daniel recited and interpreted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, he promoted him to the capital city’s provincial governor and the head of all the wise men. This latter responsibility must have been pretty awkward: a bunch of outsider kingly advisors offering little or nothing of substance. Seizing the moment, Daniel got his prayer buddies elevated to higher service positions too. Many Christians want God’s people in high influential governmental positions. God does this sometimes times. When he doesn’t, let’s trust God to continue bringing his coming indestructible kingdom.
