Daniel 2:16-18 says, “So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation. Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish…” After the king’s counselors failed to tell and interpret Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, he ordered all of them to be executed. He knew they were stalling for time (v. 8) so the executions began quickly (v. 13). But Daniel asked for time and got it. Why did Nebuchadnezzar give Daniel what he refused to the others? Because “he found them ten times better than all” the rest in “all his realm” (v. 20). God’s work inside them was evident to outsiders. Let’s have that kind of testimony every day.
