John 13:26-27 says, “Jesus answered, ‘It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.’ And having dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus said to him, ‘What you do, do quickly.'” What was it like being Judas? He began as a disciple carrying the moneybag. By the Last Passover Satan manipulated him (13:2). He already had 30 silver coins (betrayal money) in the bag. Jesus announced his betrayal (verse 21). Then he gave Judas the bread, a sign of honor. Immediately “Satan entered him” to seal the deal. Jesus told him to hurry, not encouraging sin but indicating it was over for Judas. Typically we don’t think big disasters will come from little compromises. Let’s make sure we seek God’s will everyday.
