John 12:23-24 says, ” But Jesus answered them, saying, ‘The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.'” Now in Jerusalem Jesus began his passion week. It’s his time to “be glorified,” signaling his coming death. Death doesn’t sound like glory, does it? But a “grain of wheat that doesn’t fall into the ground and dies: it remains alone.” Jesus didn’t come for himself but for others. Selfless reproducing attracts God’s glory. So Jesus fell “into the ground” and died, producing “much grain” — us! Similarly we should serve others instead of serving ourselves, remaining “alone.” We receive God’s glory by following in Jesus’ resurrection. Let’s live each day reproducing, knowing we’ll be glorified above.
