John 11:25-26 says, “ Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?'” Jesus makes two profound claims to Martha in verse 25. First, he says he is “the resurrection,” the restoration of physical life. This is true because, second, he is “the life,” or eternal life from which comes physical life. God’s eternal life existed before death and will outlast it (1 Corinthians 15:26, Revelation 20:14). While life always defeats death, a fallen world makes this look untrue. Not so! Jesus staked his whole identity on this. His own resurrection is proof positive. That’s one thing that makes him unique. So, if “you believe this,” how should we live? Positively, fearlessly, confidently. Add your own words. Then live like it today.
