John 10:40-42 says, “And he went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there he stayed. Then many came to him and said, ‘John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this man were true.’ And many believed in him there.” Jesus came full circle returning to the place where John the Baptist first announced the Messiah’s arrival. By this time Jesus’ earthly ministry of healing and witness was done. From there he headed to Jerusalem to die. John described the Baptist as ‘one having done no miracles but spoken all things true about Jesus.’ This is a great definition of a witness, what we all are. As we share Jesus accurately, he goes from our area and his crucifixion impacts others. Let’s pray many around us believe him like the ones in John’s old stomping ground.
